Acer Chromebase CA24I AIO Review Review by Expert
Buy For: Compact design │Large Display
Beware Of: Technical Limitations │Lags behind other devices in a similar price range regarding certain aspects.
Verdict
The Acer Chromebase 24 is one of the uniquely designed PCs that brings you the comfort of the Google Chrome Operating System in an outer shell of an AIO. As long you are clear about what your needs are and would not need to run high-end software or games, this is the one that you must think of choosing if you are looking for a Chrome OS featuring PC.
Design and Build
The design of the Acer Chromebase is such that you would not need a CPU.
Instead, the processing components like the motherboard, ALU, GPU, etc are consolidated in the display unit itself while the secondary components can be used in the usual manner.
This 23.8 inched display unit rests on a stand and one may alter it as per his/her needs. A thing to take note of is that the display would not be glare-free and it isn’t as immersive as other AIOs.
But other than that, the picture quality is good in spite of being an LCD kind. Check out Best Desktop Computers for Elderly.
Performance
You must understand that since the PC runs on a 1.7 GHz dual-core Intel Celeron 3215U processor, it is not built to provide a massive amount of performance.
In fact, what it provides is slightly short of that provided by an i3 and as such certain applications would not be supported by it.
But the 4 GB RAM is suited to the processor, and with the Intel HD Graphics, the machine would easily handle your everyday tasks.
The Chrome OS is the same as using any Android device so you wouldn’t require a manual to guide you about how to operate it.
Storage and RAM
The storage you get on the PC is of 16 GB and because of this, you must be requiring an additional external hard disk since, honestly, the storage by default isn’t going to cut it.
The 4 GB of RAM should be enough and although you may make an upgrade, we don’t see any reason why you should do so.
Ports and Connectivity
There is a single USB 2.0 port and 3 USB 3.0 ports. Along with these, an Ethernet slot, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack can be found.
The user gets 802.11 ac Wifi and Bluetooth 4.0 in order to connect other devices to the PC and as you can see, it has all the features that you may expect from any other PC.
Additional Features
A wired keyboard and mouse are provided with the product.
There are 4 microphones in total and an adjustable HD webcam and due to these, video calling the relatives and loved ones will be very comfortable.
The screen can also be mounted on a wall which brings some more utility.
A limited warranty has also been provided by Acer. Check out best desktop brands.

What Do Users Think about Acer Chromebase CA24I?
The users were quite happy with their purchase, as can be found out from their reactions.
A touch screen display would have been better, but unfortunately, it isn’t available in this variant.
They like the simple interface of the Chrome OS and even elders will have no troubles while using it.
A few of them were disappointed that it wasn’t able to run any major software or games.
Also, some more storage space was expected. Check out Acer Chromebase Manual.
The quality of the keyboard and mouse that came with the product was satisfactory, while some of the users preferred to use those which they were already using or ordered new ones separately.
The power button had to be used delicately since damaging it caused a lot of trouble for them.
From the elder users specifically, the device is a decent one but certain improvements were necessary.
Other Expert Views
The expert at Chrome Unboxed tested the Acer Chromebase 24 AIO and commented that it is a decent performer at an affordable price. He liked the build quality but was unhappy regarding the bezels which were quite thick. The performance was also all right and was as expected. As per him, this PC is nothing extraordinary, but not that paltry either.
