The Nitro 5 offers a robust futuristic design including hard edge, sleek lines as well as angles.

The keyboard and trackpad having red outline & backlit feature are designed to set the device apart from other models, making it highly noticeable.

The main chassis and lid of the laptop are made of carbon fiber to give an outstanding look and feel.

The device overall measures about 15.3 x 10.5 x 1.1 inches and weighs just 5.51 pounds.

You will find a 15.6 inch IPS display sandwiched between its lid and keyboard and also surrounded by wide bezels.

A 720p webcam is situated just above the display to help in video conferencing through the hours.

It may appear quite heavyweight, though you have to remember that Acer Nitro 5 is a gaming laptop, not of mainstream type at all.

Along with backlit WASD keys and crimson hinges, the device looks sleek & excellent, more for its lid having a polished finish as well. On this ground, the laptop is able to steal your heart just at one glance.

Our Testing & Analysis Report

When we tested the i5 7300 HQ processor of our review model of Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop, we found that it is nothing exceptional.

On CPU Benchmark, this processor scored 5099 points on average, and on PassMark software, the single thread performance was rated 1965.

On UserBenchmark, the average bench score of the processor was found to be 66.5% and its single and multi-core performance on GreekBench 5 was found to be 844 and 2672, respectively.

The graphics card too was found to be quite powerful but our technical analysis team had nothing spectacular to boast of. On the Video Card Benchmark, the average G3D score of the GPU was 6307.

When we tried playing some high-end games at high settings, we found that it is not quite a match for the other GPUs that support playing such games.

It scored 2341 points on the 3DMark Time Spy Graphics Score, and on the UserBenchmark, its average bench score was 30.9%.

However, while playing games and typing a few docs on the laptop we found that the keyboard and the trackpad both are quite responsive allowing comfortable and fast typing and easier navigation.

The screen of this laptop also did not impress us much with its brightness level staying under 300 nits in our Delta E color accuracy and deviation tool and colorimeter.

Its downsides became more evident when we played games like Guild Wars 2, Gunpoint, Halo, Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death, and others. Making it brighter did not help even.

The battery, on our test, did not show it was different from any other in a gaming laptop. On our battery rundown test, it lasted for about 5 to 6 hours, which was even lower for more intense computing and gaming.
