Our Testing & Analysis Report
The Intel Core i5-8250U CPU of the Asus TUF FX504 gaming laptop scored 5931 points in the user benchmark test. During our test, we found that the score of its single core performance was 1928 and 1103 overall.
However, when we tested the performance of the CPU on Geekbench 5, we found that the results were different, being 711 and 1971 respectively. And on the 3DMark Time Spy Physics test, it scored 2652 points.
All these values show that the processor performs differently depending on the workload. So, we tested it on basic as well as advanced computing tasks and found that while it performed quite efficiently in the former case, it lagged significantly in the latter.
With multiple tabs open in Google Chrome, we also ran a few games and videos at 1080p and performed basic computing tasks. We found that the CPU lagged more than we expected.
The discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, on our test conditions, scored 6307 points on average on G3D on the Video Card Benchmark test and 651 points on the G2D mark. Its average bench score was found to be pretty low at 30.9%.
When we played Middle-earth: Shadow of War and others at 1080p, the GPU managed to render at a lowly 41 to 47 frames per second, which increased to 54 to 65 fps at even lower settings.
Considering all these benchmarks of the CPU and the GPU of the laptop we concluded that it is best considered as an entry-level gaming laptop.
The screen, keyboard, and battery of the laptop did not impress us much in the test conditions. The colors are reasonably accurate as per our colorimeter, the keys have decent travel, and the battery lasted for about 5 hours.
