Cons

Read Asus ZenBook UX433FA laptop review and see the price. The Asus ZenBook UX433FA is a good enough laptop to possess, which promises a reliable and high performance, extreme portability, and a good enough screen.

The device works most efficiently when you put it on heavy-duty work using Adobe Creative Suite and others on it.

It can handle some intense programs much more easily than other laptops with similar specs but from different brands.

It will load up the programs fast due to the fast SSD, process the data and sets of instructions fast due to the powerful processor, and produce the best results and images in quick time due to the powerful graphics card.

However, this device is not reliable for playing high-end games due to the fact that it comes with an integrated graphics card.

When it comes to battery life, trackpad, and audio, nothing can be said as high about it. Check out Best Laptops for Medical School Students.

A serious issue with the system is the extremely sensitive trackpad, which also doubles as a number pad, with the mouse being extremely unmanageable.

It will work beautifully most of the time but it will lag, jump, and speed up at regular intervals, and at the times when you will need it the most.

Using a wireless mouse is the best alternative option to save you from the trouble, which, however, is pretty cumbersome if you are traveling.

Apart from the trackpad issue, this is a perfect laptop for basic use, professional use, and even by the medical and engineering students.

The trackpad issue can be solved easily with the firmware updates released regularly or by visiting Asus.com to find simple and effective solutions.

It will surely work and you will be left with a reliable and an excellent laptop otherwise.

The display is quite good and reliable, and comes with matte finish, which can be used outdoors often.

A matte screen is much better than a glossy display to use it in full daylight and would not bother you much with annoying reflections.

Overall, this is one of the best laptops that is affordable for a student.

A medical or engineering student or any professional can carry it easily to their school or office and do their assignments or install and use the necessary apps and software, heavy or light, on it most efficiently and reliably.

However, the loud coil whine, always-working fan even under very light load, and heat dissipation, may not be all that reliable and impressive.

Verdict

The ZenBook UX433FA is a promising Asus laptop that is smaller, lighter, and good in appearance. There is a novelty number pad, good enough ports and power in the system. Though inclusion of a Thunderbolt 3 would have been nice, this device certainly falls under the category and side of ultraportable laptops.

Design and Build

This laptop will not let you down if you are a big Asus fan. It is sleek and portable and the design looks good and appealing with its unique hue.

In spite of its new build, this device offers a lot of vertical and horizontal space on the screen, due to the tiny bezel, to the extent of 92% body to screen ratio.

The wide view display comes with full HD resolution which delivers sharp and crisp images.

A few notable features included in the design of the system include the backlit keyboard that comes with multiple brightness settings.

It has a decent key travel and feedback to allow easy, fast, and accurate typing in the dark or lowly-lit settings.

The most unique thing about the design is the function lock option that was notably lacking, and annoying, on the previous Asus models.

The design also includes an exclusive dual-function touchpad that is switchable to turn it into a numeric keypad to help in making faster data entry.

This illuminated number pad is a unique addition, which is pretty useful while punching in numbers, but a lot of improvement is required in terms of its functionality or cursor movement, to be more precise.

Pressing it too hard will make the mouse crazy and fast. Pressing it softly will make it function just like your smartphone.

Apart from the aesthetics of this machine, which nobody can disagree with, it is the thin bezel that keeps down the weight making it extremely portable.

Ideally, this is a device for specs and quality over price. You will hardly find an Intel Core i7 8565U processor, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of SSD storage, and a metal design laptop as close to this one for this price.

The build quality of this device is solid and awesome. It feels lighter than most of the textbooks! It is very tough and durable and comes with the MIL-STD-810G military standard certification.

It passes the most demanding and punishing test regime that ensures an unhindered performance in extremely harsh environments such as high altitudes, humidity, and temperatures.

No wonder it has won the ‘iF’ award for its exceptional design, user experience, exterior and interior architecture, professional concept, and communication.

Performance

The performance of the device seems to be flawless even while using specific apps like Adobe Photoshop.

First, take a look at the processor. It belongs to the 8th generation of the Intel Core i7 family. It comes with four cores and 8 MB cache that affects its performance positively.

It can process any set of instructions thrown at it within the shortest possible time due to its high operating speed which can easily reach up to 4.6 GHz with the Intel Turbo Boost technology.

The integrated Intel graphics card is also good enough for ensuring a speedy performance, thanks to the better features and build of these modern integrated graphics chips.

Being a UHD variant, this graphics chip delivers much better images with better color accuracy.

The images are delivered at a fast pace to make them look seamless and uninterrupted, thereby enhancing your viewing pleasure.

The Windows 10 Home operating system needs no specific mention of its high functionality, performance, and ease in use.

You are already familiar with its useful features that will surely enhance your productivity by manifolds.

RAM & Storage

The machine comes with 16 GB of RAM, which is adequate and at par today’s standards.

Though low power, this DDR3 RAM is good enough to support multitasking on this laptop.

The storage is also fast and adequate. You will have enough storage space for your files and folders within the 512 GB drive and the PCIe NVMe SSD feature of it will allow faster access to those stored files.

It will also ensure a faster boot up of the apps and programs which will add to the overall performance of the system.

Ports & Connectivity

You will have extensive connectivity options in this system in the form of an HDMI port, a USB 3.1 Type A port, a DC-in jack, and a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C port on the left side of the chassis.

On the right side, there is also a Micro SD card reader, a USB 2.0 port, and an headphone and microphone combo jack included in the system design.

The system also offers Gigabit-class wi-fi networking of 802.11ac standard apart from Bluetooth 5.0 technology.

Both are strong and reliable and promise a fast internet connection and data transfer.

Battery Life

The battery life is not that exceptional as it varies according to the usage. However, under test condition this lithium-ion battery has a life of 9 hours, as advertised by the manufacturer.

This means you can work on it all day on a single charge if your computing jobs involve the basics.

The best thing about it is that it comes with a fast-charging ability. It can regain its full charge in just under 1.5 hours.

Additional Features

The laptop comes with a special ergo lift design. This technology actually lifts the base of the laptop automatically when you open the lid or screen.

This not only lifts the keyboard to offer a much better typing position at an angle of 3 degrees, but when you push the screen up to 145 degrees, it also creates a gap between the bottom of the device and the surface on which it rests.

This gap optimizes the performance of the cooling systems with unrestricted airflow in and out of the system.

It also enhances the audio performance as the rear-firing speakers are not blocked.

There is an IR camera built in the system that has the facial recognition ability and allows safer and faster sign in with the Windows Hello support without needing a password to be typed in for it every time.

However, the performance of this camera needs to be improved.

The stereo speakers are rear-firing and tuned by Harman-Kardon but lack bass making the sound output nothing more than average.

Within middle and upper frequencies, the sound also lacks richness and clarity in tone.

This lightweight system comes with an international warranty for a year.

What Do Users Think about Asus ZenBook UX433FA?

The Nano Edge 14-inch screen in a small form factor is what makes this laptop stand apart from the others, said a few users.

They also appreciated the device for its overall performance and the inclusion of high-end specs and hardware such as the latest processor, a fair amount of RAM and storage.

As it offered them with a good value for their money, they did not hesitate to recommend this device to others.

However, a few of the users complained about the trackpad issue with the mouse jumping around, speeding up, freezing for a second and then moving again.

They said it took them a lot of time to get used to its finicky nature which is a frequent occurrence and often lasted for minutes.

They said that this laptop is surely not the one for those who want to do anything intensive with the trackpad, be it playing games, drawing, or even dragging and dropping an item.

Few students, especially those from the medical schools, were extremely happy to use this laptop simply due to the fact that it does not only come preinstalled with their favorite and familiar Windows 10 Home operating system but also with a lot of other software.

However, a few other over-ambitious students said that this made the machine slow and resulted in some issues with the USB boot disk.

They also said that the over- sensitive trackpad gets in the way of their productivity. Check out ZenBook UX433FA Manual.

They suggested that the system and they would have been better off with a Linux operating system.

Reiterating the trackpad issue, a few users said that this has been the problem across all models of ZenBook they bought since 2011.

However, they suggested a simple fix to this problem which is to remove the casing and tape a piece of tinfoil between the trackpad and the battery.

It is a good and small laptop, said a few users, but also said that with all the cons and issues in the system, especially the over-responsive trackpad, it is not worth spending so much money on this specific laptop.

There are several other comparable laptops available on the market on which they could have invested, but sadly, they did not. They warned others, not to follow their suit.

It is a perfect laptop for students who are in demanding fields such as medical and engineering, said a few specific users, applauding the configurations, power and functionality of the system.

They said it not only helps them to complete their college assignments but also allows them to play a few light games and mess around with YouTube and Reddit.

Other Expert Views

This 14-inch laptop may not have an exceptional battery life, but IT Pro feels that it makes that up with its small and sleek design, decent display, and well-priced and performing specs.

Expert Reviews believes that this device offers the best value for the money in return as Asus has perfected almost everything in its system to leave its competitors behind. They say it is easy to use, carry and work.

Though not an entirely budget laptop, NotebookCheck suggests that this slim, stylish and compact laptop is an excellent Ultrabook with a good 14-inch display in a 13-inch form factor, fast keyboard, and modern hardware.
