Read Asus ZenBook UX434FL laptop review and see the price. Ultrabooks and laptops from Asus are among the best in the industry, and can often compete against the top contenders. Some of these we have reviewed here as well, and many have been benefited from the information.
Now today we have the ZenBook UX434FL UX434FL-DB77, a sleek, and considerably thin laptop that looks and performs very impressively.
It may not have the industry-leading specs but sure is quite a capable device. And like most ZenBooks, it radiates a premium vibe.
Then there is 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD for storage. But what sets it apart from the others of its kind is the optional screen pad, which comes in this variant, and we will be talking about it soon.
Asus has also provided the laptop with some nice touches like the USB Type-C port, the Ergolift design, and a very compact form factor.
We must say it indeed looks quite stylish as well. However, if you are here hoping to get things like charging through the USB Type-C port or Thunderbolt 3, you would be let down.
It may have improvements over its predecessors but also misses out on things that we would have wanted to see.
Like every other device out there, this version of the ZenBook UX434FL has positives and negatives, and it would be wrong to dwell specifically on any one of these.
But as a buyer, you must be aware of both, which is why we have come up with this review.
Asus ZenBook UX434FL Laptop & Variants Price
Asus ZenBook UX434FL Laptop Review
Buy for: Good design and display quality │ Performs as per expectations
Beware of: Lacks some modern features │ Screen pad variants can be expensive
Best uses for: Doctors and other purposes.
The ZenBook UX434FL overall is a premium-looking, compact Ultrabook that would be suitable for many professionals, and people who have to work while traveling. But the presence of the screen pad does increase its price, which does not always seem to be justified.
Design and Build
While some may have different views, Ultrabooks are often worth the price tag they come with.
And since you’re investing in a portable device like a laptop, why shouldn’t it be even more compact and convenient to carry?
The ZenBook UX434FL certainly fulfills both these criteria, and also looks great.
The one we have here is the Royal Navy color, though there is another Icicle Silver.
The coloring on the outside is metallic, while on the inside it’s more subtle. The golden letters and symbols on the keys look great, and there’s proper backlighting as well.
On top of the keyboard is a golden strip, which has the ASUS ZenBook branding.
With this in your ZenBook UX434FL, you get things like a digital Numpad, app navigator, a convenient place for writing, and so on.
You may also use this as a secondary screen for some of the apps, but it isn’t as extreme as the Zenbook Pro Duo, also from ASUS. It does increase the overall price but often makes things easier, depending on the user.
Then there is the main 14-inch display, which is almost bezel-free and very thin.
The minimal bezels give you a great experience when working or consuming media, both of which are things that you’d want to do on this laptop. And though there isn’t a better display option, you can go for the touchscreen variant.
The screen leans back up to 145 degrees and the hinges raise the laptop body slightly, due to which the typing experience is improved, along with the airflow.
It is a standard 60 Hz panel but has a wide viewing angle and a 92% screen-to-body ratio.
It covers 100% of the sRGB spectrum, so anything you watch on the screen looks lively, but the panel is not calibrated for dedicated creative usage.
Now ASUS claims that this device is a military-grade one, and the general build quality is good.
But the rigidity of the hinges isn’t so good. This won’t mean that the screen wobbles or anything, but prolonged usage might just make things worse.
The form factor of the laptop is very compact, and we don’t think it should be any trouble to carry it while traveling.
But only looks aren’t enough when it comes to certain usage, but even though it has an 8th gen processor, the ZenBook UX434FL does not disappoint in terms of performance.
The 4 core, 8 threaded Intel Core i7-8565U CPU gives you enough power to run most software, but its peak frequency isn’t as much as some of the brand’s latest launches.
So you can perform slightly demanding tasks and a little bit of casual gaming. There are still certain games that would run on 1080p comfortably with these specs, at mid to high settings.
Neither the 60 Hz display nor the underlying hardware is meant for dedicated gaming or editing sessions, so keep that in mind.
But the ZenBook UX434FL does not target any specific kind of usage anyway, and the overall performance it offers is plenty.
You can either get this one or the Core i5 variant if you can still find it, depending on the kind of requirements and budget you have.
There are also 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM options to choose from, the latter more preferable for those that intend to run heavier tasks.
Both of these variants allow a lot of scopes for you to multi-task, and the ScreenPad 2.0 makes switching between applications much easier.
In the newer-gen ZenBook UX434FLs, looks haven’t changed much, that is for certain.
However, they come with up to 11th gen processors from Intel and newer options from AMD, slightly newer GPUs, and a few such hardware changes.
There’s also Thunderbolt 4 support in the latest ones, which you wouldn’t find in this older-gen version.
But performance figures are well within the comparison margin, even though the newer processors have theoretically better specs and are pricier.
The ZenBook UX434FL UX434 even manages to stay ahead of laptops with similar specs, which is appreciable.
Storage and RAM
This variant of the Asus ZenBook UX434FL comes with 512 GB of storage, and while it is an SSD, it isn’t the quickest as those present in its competitors. You can replace the one present with a bigger one if you need to.
Ports and Connectivity
On the right side, you’d see the power port, an HDMI port, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A port, and a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port.
However, this can only be used for data transfer and does not have power delivery or video support. This is one of the things that disappointed us.
On the right side, you’d notice an SD card reader, a headphone jack, and a USB 2.0 port. There’s also WIFI AC and Bluetooth, but the network card is soldered, and so the connectivity has limitations that some of you may not want to compromise with.
The ZenBook UX434FL that we are reviewing comes with a 50Wh battery which is decent considering the hardware present.
In reality though, depending on usage it lasts between 6-8 hours, which isn’t too bad. It isn’t as much as the brand claims though.
You can turn off the ScreenPad to get slightly better battery backup, and it might be the factor why other comparable laptops last longer than this one.
But the charging time is quite quick, at just around 90 minutes. However, you would have to carry the separate charging adapter as USB Type-C charging is not supported by the device.
The screen of the laptop comes with an additional glass cover for a gloss finish and better safety. Now gloss displays aren’t the ideal choice, but the laptop is still usable outdoors.
On the upper bezel of the display, you’d find an HD webcam which is just decent and the microphones are also at par. The Windows face recognition is quick too.
The speakers on the device are located on the back panel and hence are down-firing ones. Tuned by Harman Kardon, these are sufficiently clear but lack loudness.
While the keyboard backlighting and 1.4mm key travel is good, you won’t get the expected feedback from the keys.
There’s also some noticeable flex when the keyboard is pressed, which again questions the “military-grade” construction.
There’s a 1-year warranty on the device like ASUS usually provides.

What Do Users Think About Asus ZenBook UX434FL?
The Asus ZenBook UX434FL has been able to attract a lot of audiences with its features, design, and performance.
For those looking for a compact Ultrabook, it stood up to that role. They have expressed a lot of thoughts and experiences about the device which you must know if you’re planning to get this as well.
The compact form factor is one of the very important things that must be mentioned here. Check out Asus ZenBook UX434FL Manual.
The users were able to carry this 2.9 lbs (1.3 kg) laptop anywhere they needed to, as it fits in their backpack, and is self-evidently light.
And the premium looks, combined with the battery life, made it very likable to the buyers.
Now those that got this color variant had no issues with reading the keyboard or the backlighting and were also impressed by these up to a certain extent.
But things were a bit troublesome with the other silver variant. Also, the laptop tends to hold fingerprints, which bothered many.
The display quality itself was found to be great, but the gloss coating did cause inconvenience for some of the buyers. And the ScreenPad has mixed reactions among them too.
Performance-wise, the laptop proved to be a very useful one. The buyers, ranging from students to working professionals, have been able to run a wide variety of software comfortably on this.
Some have tried some occasional gaming too, and the device did not disappoint.
The speaker and webcam quality were found to be decent, but both in these and the connectivity department, some improvements could have been made as per the buyers.
Now about other drawbacks, the most are regarding the physical qualities. The keyboard, for example, didn’t have as much feedback and wasn’t as rigid.
Then the hinges weren’t as good, and there was fan noise upon intensive usage. None of these are very serious issues but are still notable.
As long as the all-inclusive impressions are concerned, the buyers have considered this a decent purchase, given the price tag.
But for a modern buyer, the drawbacks can often outweigh the strengths, given that there are so many better options in this price range currently.
Other Expert Views
The authors of NoteBookCheck think that the ZenBook UX434FL has things like a compact and light design, good display and performance, and such. But there’s also a bunch of missing things like Thunderbolt support that concern them. Also, the usefulness of the ScreenPad 2.0 is subjective.
As per Smart Prix, the ZenBook UX434FL UX434FL not only has impressive design and performance, the battery life on this is also sufficient. They found the ScreenPad to be exclusively industrious too, but the audio output of the speakers, absence of USB Type-C charging, etc was things they did not like.
As per UltraBook Review, the ZenBook UX434FL comes with a likable design, satisfying performance, and a lasting battery. But certain limitations cannot be ignored, as mentioned in the above expert’s findings. However, it can still compete well against the other contenders in its segment with similar specs.
