Read Dell G5 15 5590 gaming laptop review and see best price. The newer version of the Dell G5 15 5590 has brought a lot of features while sticking to the 15.6” display.
You get a 9th gen i7 processor along with an RTX GPU option at a price point that is well justified for a mid-range gaming laptop. The best part is that you get multiple options available from about $1000, and thus you can select one based on your preference.
The options also include the display preference, and alongside the base 60 Hz version, this is the 144 Hz display variant that we would personally prefer.
But rest assured since all of these promise quality hardware and performance every day. Check out best laptop brands.

Dell G5 15 5590 Gaming Laptop Review
Buy For: Budget-friendly price│Decent Gaming
Beware Of: Bulky Chassis│Not at par with competitors
Verdict
The Dell G5 15 5590 may not look very appealing from the outside, but make no such assumptions regarding its performance. The fast processor coupled with a decent GPU and enough RAM should provide you with all the comfort while gaming, but on an FHD screen. However, if you expected the latest GPU or a 4K display, this wouldn’t be the preferred option.
Design and Build
The G5 15 5590 has been provided with a 15.6 inches FHD (1920*1080p) matte-finished screen.
The bezels are thin, which is one of the few attractive parts. This is attached to a body that isn’t as heavy as it looks, at 5.9 pounds.
Well, that isn’t light either right? Oh, and there aren’t any special LEDs like you would find on other gaming laptops.
The keyboard and trackpad are decent, and you find a full-fledged number pad on the right side like the desktop keyboards have.
The device is made of aluminum that gives it a good level of endurance. The Dell logo lights up with a bluish hue and so do the keys and the trackpad.
Air vents are present on both the sides and at the back, but a heating tendency is noticed when both the CPU and GPU are in use.
Performance
The variant we are talking about here has got an Intel Core i7-9750H processor which has 6 cores and a 12 MB cache.
It is a decent CPU, but you would want to look for the Core 10th gen CPUs too, as the price difference isn’t much currently.
There are 12 threads in the CPU which will allow you to multitask comfortably.
The graphics department is handled by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU.
The laptop can run most games at decent frame rates even on the highest setting but is not the best when compared with other options like the Aorus 15 or the Asus Scar II.
The screen brightness and RGB performance are just average, and we wouldn’t bore you with the details.
However, things being displayed on the screen do feel dim at times.
Now we know what you are thinking. Is this the correct option to buy currently?
The answer depends on how you want to use your laptop. The video card is not at all bad, especially when available at this price.
But it is not as powerful as some of the newer cards.
When you are very keen on performance, you won’t be very satisfied with content creation or intense gaming.
Storage and RAM
The amount of storage present in this variant is 512 GB in the SSD, and you may add an external hard drive separately.
The RAM present is of 16 GB by default, but it is a single module used in a dual-channel configuration.
Ports and Connectivity
On one side of the laptop, one can see a 2-in-1 media card reader and a USB 3.1 port.
The other side has an optional USB-C DisplayPort or a Type-C Thunderbolt port and a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port with powershare. There is also a headphone jack beside it.
Some of the major connections are at the rear which does give you better cable management.
This includes an HDMI 2.0 port, a Mini DisplayPort and a USB 3.1 port. The E2500 Gigabit Ethernet slot gives you fast internet connectivity.
For wireless connections, you have Bluetooth and 802.11 ac WIFI.
Battery Life
The battery life on the device largely depends on which variant you choose since both 60Wh and 90Wh alternatives are present, and more specifically the GPU.
The GTX 1650 variant pulled an average of about 8 hours of video playback, and this one with the RTX 2060 and 90Wh would give you less than that, about 4-6 hours.
With constant gaming on medium or high settings, don’t expect it to last for more than 2 hours on a single charge.
Additional Features
The laptop has been warranted for 12 months, and you get the optional choice of a backlit keyboard.
The device can be used for VR gaming and adding a 4K resolution monitor.
Built-in dual speakers further enhance the gaming experience, but they aren’t anything extraordinary.
A 720p webcam is also seen at the top of the screen.
