The Pro MCT3900V2 from iBuyPower seems to be the right choice when you don’t want to get involved in building a PC, but want to save some money as well. But make sure to consider some other options too since, for investment so large, you would want the best performance and reliability.

Design and Build

The case used for the PC is simple but also allows you to view a lot of components on the inside.

At the front, 3 RGB cooling fans are visible through the metallic-mesh panel. There is a glass panel on one side, while the other side of the case is covered.

The overall build quality is decent but isn’t very sturdy so to speak.

The front has the brand logo, while “iBuypower” is imprinted on the side with the glass panel.

There are 4 small pegs at the bottom as well, lifting the entire case slightly over the ground.

The power button is at the top, so are some ports. There is also a magnetic dust filtering layer placed on top so that the rig doesn’t catch too many dust particles.

Although you can add more cooling fans, at the top, for example, the airflow through the front isn’t as good as you’d expect.

The three fans draw a considerable amount of air through the mesh, but the difference in cooling with the panel on and off isn’t much.

Performance

The processor used in this device is a higher-end product from AMD, and hence the raw processing power is excellent.

The 12 core 24 thread Ryzen 9 3900X operates at a speed of 3.8 GHz.

Though the boosted speed isn’t as much as the Intel competition, you would be amazed at the results of a Core i9 and this CPU, on the same tests.

The large 64 MB cache allows the CPU to take more instructions at a given time, thus adding to the processing speed.

With this, you get the NVIDIA RTX 2080 GPU that too is one of the best as of now.

Based on the Turing manufacturing process, it has got over 3000 CUDA cores and a memory speed of 15.5 Gbps.

The frequency of the GPU is at 1650 MHz, and yet can be boosted to 1815 MHz when needed. The total VRAM is of 8 GB and DDR6 type.

Thus the ray tracing features, DLSS 2.0, and more tensor cores give you superior performance, in both gaming and editing tasks.

You’ll even be able to edit videos on 4K without any issues, and the GPU’s AI capabilities would allow base level deep learning too.

For gaming, it can play almost every game on 1440p and most games on the ultra graphics settings on 4K (with Ray tracing and DLSS turned on), like Metro Exodus, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Assasins Creed: Odessey.

Others like Battlefield V and Rainbow Six Siege were even better and reached 90fps most of the time.

Feel free to stream your gameplay online while playing since the GPU is capable of doing both.

And of course, for other tasks and intensive multi-tasking, you are going to get extremely smooth performance.

On other Cinebench and benchmark tests, both the GPU and CPU performance are excellent, and the only better GPU option in this segment was the RTX 2080 Ti with 11 GB of VRAM.

The logical GPU upgrade, a few months ago would also have been the better RTX 2080 Ti, but with the 3000 series GPUs at the scene, it is time to rethink.

The newer RTX 3080 is available at the price at which 2070 super sells currently, so one would surely go for the latter given the immense performance increase.

For an investment of almost $3000, we think that it would be better to choose the RTX 3080 model, rather than the 2070 super.

But there is yet no news from the brand adding the newer GPUs in a newer variant of this PC.

So whether you want to wait is something that depends on your necessity.

Storage and RAM

An SSD drive with 1 TB capacity has been used that should be enough to fulfill all your storage needs, while also providing enough speed.

There is enough space inside to add hard drives as well, so storage would never be a concern.

The RAM you have is of 16 GB, and unless you want to turn it into a workstation, an upgrade wouldn’t be necessary.

All the RAM slots are occupied though, so for an upgrade, you would have to vacate one of the 2 RAM slots first.

Ports and Connectivity

There are three types of ports for adding more displays, which are a DVI slot, an HDMI port, and a VGA port respectively.

You may add more than one 4K display and there would be enough power for them both to run comfortably.

There are ports for various other connections like 4 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports. Again, the absence of Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports is noticed.

There is also a Gigabit Ethernet slot that can handle up to 1000 Mbps of Ethernet bandwidth.

For Wireless internet, you have 802.11 ac WIFI and Bluetooth support is present as well.

Additional Features

The device would let you play games on VR, thus making your gaming experience further enjoyable.

A mouse and keyboard come with the rig, but they aren’t very good and it would be better to buy dedicated ones for gaming.

There is 7.1 Audio support too which would provide a stereo experience. The PC can be overclocked as well, in case you decide to do so.

A pre-installed software allows you to control the RGB lighting on the fans.

A warranty of 1 year has been provided on the parts and labor, while a free US-based technician support is available for a lifetime.

What Do Users Think about iBUYPOWER Pro MCT3900V2?

The users are very satisfied with the PC and its performance, since it could handle all the tasks thrown at it with ease.

The variant here was chosen by those who required solid performance, and it can be said that all of their computing needs were fulfilled.

They could play even the most demanding games at the best frame rates, and 4K renderings were quick.

Not only gamers and editors, but those who wanted to try some basic AI development or machine learning, the PC was of much use to them as well.

They liked the easy access to the components inside and the RGB case. Some didn’t need more cooling, but those who did added more fans.

The cable management inside the case was really good, so they had an organized setup.

However, some had received improper hardware and there were some problems faced regarding its functioning.

But a decent after sales support from the company made sure that these issues were resolved.

But one thing that troubled them was that the motherboard had only two slots for RAM, and both were occupied.

The general impressions were good, and some have even said that they couldn’t have built a PC themselves within this price.

Moreover, it remained quite even under workload and because of enough airflow there weren’t any major heating issues either.
