Value for Money Score8.1/10
Specifications and Features Score8.0/10
Read Samsung notebook flash review and see the price. The Flash notebook comes with plenty of useful features that are found lacking in other devices available in the market at this price point.
This is actually a good laptop for students and professionals who are budget conscious and need to work on the go.
The retro and ergonomic keyboard, that comes with a fingerprint sensor built in, is the USP of this device. The design is not that attractive but good enough, considering the price point.
The ability of the device to support gigabit wi-fi connectivity will ensure that even 4K videos are transferred and downloaded quickly and streamed consistently with very little or no drops in the frames.
The UFS or Universal Flash Storage compatibility of the system makes it all the more reliable.
Apart from watching videos and playing some light games on this device, you can also work online uninterruptedly due to the reliable and stronger connectivity features.
The laptop is safe, reliable, secure and simple to use. The Windows Hello feature and the built-in fingerprint sensor will allow you to log in immediately, and more securely.
Since you can save your files in an encrypted privacy folder, it will add another level of security and protection.
The 13.3-inch display is one of the most reliable ones and is quite large for any ultra-book, subnotebook or convertible of this size.
It comes with better resolutions, which means that the letters of the text will appear to be bigger, sharper and clearer.
On the other hand, if you consider the power consumption of this device, it is also at a very low level. This is largely due to the smaller size of the device and screen diagonals.
However, if you are for looks, then this smaller and lightweight device may seem to be a little bit uninteresting to you. Check out best laptop brands.
As said earlier, this is a good device for people who want a cheaper laptop but a fair enough display, above average graphics, and fairly good and consistent overall performance.

Samsung Notebook Flash Review
Buy for: Smaller size and portability, good enough configuration, sharper display.
Beware of: Limited storage capacity, non-upgradable RAM.
The Samsung Notebook Flash is specifically designed for the budget conscious users to help them perform all their day to day light computing tasks. The features and a decent configuration of the system helps it to function smoothly and at a higher level, and can even handle the pressure of multitasking. Barring the limited storage and uninteresting design, this is a worthy laptop.
Design and Build
The portable size of the laptop makes it one of the best travel companions for people working on it during a long business trip.
The full HD screen displays images at a fair enough resolution even in the Outdoor Mode. It is colorful, crisp and looks good with the very bright LED backlight.
The 13.3-inch display is designed and built to provide a modern look as much as possible with a signature style. The high quality IPS display offers quite a wide viewing angle and fairly sharp images.
The system is designed with quite a reasonable sRGB coverage, a comfortable keyboard, and quieter fans.
With no pulsing, this is a laptop that is designed precisely to make it stand out from other laptops at this price point, both inside and out.
The keyboard with a retro-look is designed to give you maximum comfort while typing. The rounded keys add to the appeal of the keyboard.
The well-spaced apart keys have a decent enough travel making it nice to type on. Though not backlit, this keyboard is quite good for people who have to do a lot of typing jobs.
The trackpad is also designed specifically to make it more responsive.
The fingerprint reader sensor button at the right side of the keyboard allows you to write on it when you press it when you want the system to wake up from its sleep mode.
However, the position of the power button just next to the delete key seems to be a bit confusing, being on the left side.
Ideally, it should be at the right side to prevent accidental pressing when you want to delete something and resulting in the system going into sleep mode or shutting down completely.
Though the system is built to be thin and light. Weighing 3.02 pounds, it is however a bit heavier as compared to other laptops.
Moreover, the keyboard deck appears to be a little weird with a rough feeling texture. This all-plastic pattern is however unique for such laptops.
You may not call this system a ‘Do it all computer,’ but you can definitely use it to do almost any and every light computing job.
As for web browsing, it may appear to be a bit sluggish but not to the extent of being annoying. The experience will be good overall with pages downloading and opening at a fair enough speed.
However, this is not a good laptop for gaming, and is certainly not designed to play those typical AAA rated games on it.
When you play games at its lowest possible setting of 720p, the system will produce images at a range of 8 to 15 frames per second.
On the other hand, when you play a few specific games at a higher 1080p setting, the images are produced at a rate up to 40 to 50 frames per second.
When it comes to watching videos on this laptop, initially you may experience drop frames, but later on it will be very consistent.
The performance of the system typically gets slower at times. This is just to manage the heat generated by the system when you use it, especially while gaming.
This cannot be considered as a drawback of the system because it is typical for laptops that come with processors of this class.
The Intel Celeron N 4000 processor of this laptop operates at an average speed of 1.10 GHz. However, this speed can go up to 2.60 GHz using the Max Turbo Frequency.
The good thing about this system is that it has the ability to hold that speed consistently for a quite a long time. On other laptops of similar specs this tends to fall down continuously over time.
Ideally, the Celeron N 4000 processor is a dual core, low power SoC belonging to the Gemini Lake series. This is an ideal processor for cheap notebooks.
However, the good thing about this type of processor is that it may even support a graphics adapter integrated in the system with a DirectX 12 capability.
The Intel UHD Graphics 600 integrated in the laptop is ideally a low-end graphics adapter. However, it will support your computing needs based on the capability of the DirectX 12 support of the processor.
This graphics card of the system is much better in performance in comparison to the HD Graphics 500.
It will produce much better display outputs with fewer shaders even when it works at a much lower clock speed.
However, and once again, this graphics card is not designed for playing demanding games on this system.
The Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system will support the processor and provide you and your system with lots of power and flexibility enabling you to use a lot of apps and tabs most effectively and seamlessly.
RAM & Storage
As for the 4 GB RAM of the system, it may be enough but you cannot do anything even if you want to have more RAM.
This is because it is not upgradable, which means you will have a RAM of what you started with in your system, forever.
However, this LPDDR4 RAM type will operate at a speed of 2400 MHz, which is high enough to read and write the simple instructions and command inputs on this device. You will be able to do more on this system due to this RAM.
The 64 GB eMMC storage of the system will also prove to be enough for such simple computing jobs. It will allow you to store and transfer enough files much easily and faster.
The Universal Flash Storage is a unique and latest innovation that is included in this system design.
This flash memory technology will perform at a level that is five times better and faster in comparison to any traditional and out-of-the-mill microSD storage.
Another thing that needs to be mentioned at this point is that you may upgrade the 64 GB eMMC storage.
However, this is not possible if you use M2 NVMe drive.
Ports & Connectivity
There are one USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.0 port included in the system. These ports will help you to connect to a monitor, charge the devices, as well as transfer files and data at a much quicker rate.
Apart from the removable Universal Flash Storage, all the ports of the system will enable you to use a diverse range of hardware.
On the left side of the device you will find the USB-C port and use it for display out and data. However, you cannot use it for power delivery without using a charging dock.
There is also a power adapter for charging the system on the left side along with a full-size USB 3.0 and full-size HDMI port.
This means that, on the left side you have ports that will enable you to use two displays connected to the system at the same time.
On the right side of the system there is a lock slot, USB 2.0 port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. There is also a slot to use the UFS and micro SD combo.
As it is common for all laptops of this standard and specifications, the battery life will typically range between 8 to 10 hours, under test conditions. This means that it may vary depending on your usage.
However, the lithium ion 39 watt-hour battery can be charged easily and quickly with the AC adapter.
Though not very much in number, the laptop does come with a few additional features that positively affects its performance.
There are two stereo speakers of 1.5 watts each on the lower side. Though nothing exceptional, it makes light gaming and video streaming pleasurable enough.
Being on the lower side, the sound may however be blocked a little if you use your laptop on a flat surface or on your bed.
There is also an in-built microphone in the system to enable you to talk freely. The entire sound system comes with SoundAlive technology.
Just below the Chiclet keyboard is the TrackPoint that has quite good pointing ability. It comes with multi-touch gesture ability enabled in it.
The device also includes a multimedia webcam that will support video recording at 720p in HD.
The manufacturer also offers a limited warranty for a year on this system.

What Do Users Think about Samsung Notebook Flash?
This smaller laptop appeals to most of the users due to its ability to browse the web quite efficiently and uninterruptedly.
Users can use it for researching and similar small jobs on the internet. They found that this laptop is not very heavy and can be used for long hours for their online jobs which impressed them a lot.
Few users were full praise for the ergonomic design of the keyboard. The rounded keys add to the appeal and the fair enough key travel adds to typing pleasure and convenience.
Though they feel it would have been better if the keyboard was backlit, still they were overall happy with the smooth functioning of the system.
However, poor performance and frequent hover clicks of the cursor annoyed a few of the users a bit. Check out Notebook Flash Manual.
They said that the cursor passes over the links very quickly and the results of intentional clicks were also variable. Sometimes single clicks were read as double clicks and sometimes there were no responses at all to any clicks.
It is nicely designed and built by Samsung for the price, said others. This is surely a good budget laptop to them because it allows doing simple computing tasks with its limited power.
They liked the inclusion of the USB Type C and HDMI ports into the system which allowed them to connect and use different other devices or charge them.
The decent quality of the 1080p display attracted a few other users because this is what is found lacking in most of the other laptops of this type.
The fairly decent performance of the audio system added to the viewing pleasure of videos on this system, they said.
Overall, they have a nice feeling using this slim and pretty light laptop, in spite of its odd-looking keyboard and rough deck.
Though the 64 GB onboard storage is not enough, the inclusion of the micro SD slot in the system is what made it different from the other generic and cheap laptops, a few other users said.
It offered this system a unique style and greater performance ability because they can now store larger files on the micro SD card and just leave it inside the laptop.
A few specific users even said that they did not find any good reason to spend more on some other laptop other than this, which people say is ideally designed for the college students with limited funds.
This is because they found that this laptop is good enough to use by those working folks as well who need a small, cool, cheap and portable laptop to work on the go. It supports most of the basic business computing needs.
The only problem with the system design is the location of the delete button right next to the power on-off button.
Otherwise it is a great laptop with awesome performance ability, said some users. Though it is built from cheaper material, it works fast and keeps its cool as well.
The system does not shut down really and turns on automatically while pressing the on/off switch, said a few others who had more negatives to tell about the system.
They said that it is type-able only during the day because the keyboard is not backlit and easy to confuse the letters written on the keys.
The print screen does not work, and there is no sign to indicate that CAPS LOCK is on until something is typed on it.
This laptop is a waste of money since there are better ones available out there than this, said a few desperate users.
They said that the fingerprint reader is just a random key on the board with a fingerprint design but does not work properly.
The camera is fine but cannot upload or download anything quickly, and the battery should be a lot more powerful.
Other Expert Views

The decent components of this laptop for the price makes it a good device to own, if only the expectations and usage are kept in check, says Laptopmag. This is not just ‘another’ low price laptop. It will keep a lasting impression with its performance and a comfortable typing experience on its typewriter-style keyboard.
