The MSI Codex XE gaming desktop is a ready-to-use gaming system. All the components combined makes the Codex XE an able machine to tackle everyday computing jobs and play graphically demanding games, even at high resolutions. Though the capacity of the RAM and the thermal cooling could have been better, the other components make up with their high level of performance.

On the other hand, PCMag said that everything about this gaming laptop from its audio quality to processing speed is fine. However, they opined that instead of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 video card the manufacturer could have used a 2080 or 2080Ti version which is far more powerful that the 2070 variant. This would have resulted in a better and much faster display along with a more thrilling gaming experience.
