MSI Trident X Plus 9SF 054US Review by Expert

MSI Trident X Plus 9SF

Buy For: Peak level performance│ Dual storage options

Beware Of: High price│ Lesser access to the components inside

The MSI Trident X Plus 9SF is the answer to a great level of computing strength and consistent performance for many years to follow after you buy it. It does take a huge bite in your pocket, but the features it provides are worth the price. Moreover, you can also upgrade it when you require. It is, therefore, one of the best computers that you can think of buying.

Design and Build

This PC that we are talking about is one of the thinnest gaming PCs that we have ever seen.

There is RGB lighting both on the fans and some on the exterior as well.

On one side there is a glass door that you may choose to be transparent or blacked out so that the internals aren’t visible.

The looks of the rig aren’t much, but what’s much is its capacity. Check out Best Desktop PCs for Blender.

The PC flaunts the top-end components and thus naturally you can expect only the best amount of performance from it, no matter even if you’re a serious gamer, a video editor or blender, or an animator of the upper ranks.

This is one that is never going to fail you, all thanks to its Octa-Core Intel Core i9-9900K processor.

The NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti video card can take on almost anything, and no matter how much graphics a program demands, the PC will be able to provide it.

The maximum clock speed of the processor is 5.0 GHz and has a 16 MB cache. This is the top variant and is supplied with 32 GB of RAM.

Thus it is outstanding in running the heaviest tasks and multi-tasking.

Windows 10 comes pre-installed in it and therefore it is truly the complete package.

Storage and RAM

The user gets a sufficient amount of storage in this device. Along with the 2 TB hard drive there is also a 512 GB SSD.

Moreover, there are expansion slots for both the kinds if you want to add some more storage.

There is 11 GB of storage allotted for the graphics card and therefore it doesn’t interfere with the working of the RAM.

The RAM as said above is of 32 GB, and this is the utmost limit the PC can support so upgrading the RAM is out of the question, at least in this variant.

Ports and Connectivity

At the front part, one sees a USB 3.1 port, a USB 3.1 Type-A port, and another USB 2.0 port.

There are separate ports for a microphone and a headphone.

At the back, there are two more USB 2.0 and USB 3.1 Type-A ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A port and USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C port. Then, there are 4 DisplayPorts, 2 HDMI ports, a VirtualLink port, an audio port, and a PS2 port.

For internet connectivity, there is the usual RJ-45 port and standard Wifi. In-built Bluetooth is also available.

Additional Features

The device comes with a keyboard and mouse. A warranty of 1 year secures the product.

The people who bought this required a wide range of performance and in most cases, the PC was able to provide more than they wanted or expected.

But they think that with such a hefty price tag liquid cooling would have been better.

Also, the price tag itself is quite high and therefore reserves the device only for those who have a lot to spend.

Apart from this and some complaints about the design, the PC was found to be decent in almost every aspect.

Other Expert Views

The experts at Tom’s Guide think that the MSI Trident X Plus is a quite future-proof device because of the features it already has and its upgradability. A few improvements are present in Asus ROG Strix 12 GL CX, but it also has a higher price.

The experts of Consumer Tech Central said that being a pricey PC, the device brings a high-quality gaming experience. Most popular games can be played in the highest settings as well which makes it further impressive.

As per the experts of PC Gamer, this PC is one of the best compact-gaming PCs but it has its flaws. Some improvements would have been better regarding its design and the cooling mechanism since air cooling in such a high-end PC as this is not acceptable.
